On the morning I decided to start this blog, I really wasn’t sure how it was going to unfold. I just kept thinking about the scripture, “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper and be in health just as your soul prospers” 3 John 1:2. It was literally like the word beloved was in flashing neon lights – except I read that one big word as two little words… BE LOVED.
Everywhere I turned, God was speaking to me about His love for us. It was a beautiful time of healing and refreshing in my own life. As I contemplated how very much we are loved by God, I realized that He loves every part of us. He loves our hearts, our minds, our wills, our emotions, our bodies, and our spirits.
There is nothing about you that is disgusting to Him. He is not disappointed with you. There may be areas of sin in our life, but He is big enough to handle that. We have to do what Joyce Meyer calls separating your who from your do. While He may not love everything that you DO, He is wildly passionate about WHO you are. I think it so important that you know that there is not any part of your makeup that He is not crazy about and in love with.
He wants each part of our person; our spirit, soul, and body, to prosper and be in health. I am going to say it again. He wants our whole beings to prosper and be in health. Did you know that? Did you know that the Creator of the universe wants you to have a healthy body, a healthy mind, healthy emotions, and a healthy will. He’s not only interested in your spirit.
As we have traveled on various paths we have picked up garbage along the way. This garbage may be a hurt or offense; it may be sicknesses or diseases. It may even be bad eating habits. Whatever it is, God wants us to be free from it, and the effects of it, so that we can experience a right relationship with Him.
I believe that the only way to get free from these things is by taking the time DAILY to sit in His presence. You don’t have to do anything. Just simply show up there and in your heart say, “I love You, God and I want to know You more. I want to know what you think about me and what You have for me.” Then, take the time to listen to His heart. He will show you things. You may want to take a journal with you so that you can record what He reveals. You may want to have some instrumental music or what I like to call soaking music playing in the background. You can even light a few candles. Use whatever you need to create an atmosphere of safety, warmth, and love.
This isn’t the time for intercession. It isn’t the time for word study or to “get” your message to preach on Sunday morning. Don’t get me wrong. These are important aspects of your relationship with your Heavenly Father, but this time is a sacred time set aside just so that He can pour out His love on you, in you and then when you have been fully filled and flooded with His love, He will pour it out through you.
The most important thing that I want to reiterate is that you don’t have to “do” anything to be loved by God. He loves you so much just because He is your Dad and you are His child.
So, today, I want you to make it a priority to come into His presence and BeLoved. Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you. Come just as you are, with no pretense of getting something from God; just let Him love you. Come to be still and KNOW, from experience, that He is God!!
p.s. After taking the time to sit in His presence to be loved, you may want to use this journal entry as a point of reference to help you identify what you have believed about yourself. What do you believe about your own spirit, soul, and body? Once you do that, take the time to identify what God says about you. As you meditate on that (think about it over and over) you will begin to change the way you think about yourself.
