After loading my last bag into the car and getting ready to head to Goodwill, I thought to myself, “Boy, it sure feels good to get my closet in order.” Little did I know that in one week I would receive a care package that would rock my world.
A few days after the Goodwill run, I got a text from one of my besties saying to keep an eye out for a package coming through the mail. I thought that was cool, but had NO idea what was in store. Then, on the next day, the doorbell rang…My husband answered the door, only to see the UPS guy with a HUGE box that weighed 90 pounds.
Curiosity got the best of me and I tore into the package. It contained….clothes! (Of which I was in desperate need.)
See, I had recently lost close to a hundred pounds and had exhausted my budget buying clothes as I dropped sizes. This was a HUGE answer to prayer.
Due to the concussion, it took several weeks for me to go through the clothes, wash them and sort them; but after all was said and done, I had well over twenty new outfits that fit beautifully – dresses, slacks, jeans, blouses, shirts, etc. AND many more outfits to use as the weight continues to come off.
I share all of this to OF COURSE point to the goodness of my Big D – Daddy God, but also to share how being willing to go through my closet and let go of some old pieces of clothing made a way for the blessings of God to come into my life. I totally believe the two are related. Every time I become willing to let something go, God works on my behalf and brings something even better into my life.
It makes me think of this scripture:
19 Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:19
Which of course makes me think of DC Talk. (I am aware this will date me, but if you haven’t heard TobyMac and Crew (DC Talk) from back in the day, you need to…It is classic.)
I hope listening to this made you smile and not cringe. I know it can be a bit hoky, but man, I remember riding in my convertible with the top down, cranking out some DC Talk. Ahhh….sweet memories!
Hopefully by sharing this story, you are motivated to begin creating space in your own life for something new. As you take the time to BeLoved Completely ask God if there is an area, or areas, in your life/home that needs some extra attention.
If so, I am excited to announce the launch of our summer declutter-a-thon which will start in just a few days, so mark your calendar for June 1 and watch for more updates to come.
With love, Kim
