Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith …and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:2 The Amplified Bible
Jesus is the Source of our faith. He is where our faith originates. He is the Word made flesh and He dwells with us. He is also the Finisher of our faith. He will bring it to maturity and perfection. That is what the Word says and I believe it. He starts our journey and He enables us to finish it. He is constantly revealing Himself to us. He is constantly showing us the way in which to walk. That is His job, His delight. He loves for us to prosper and thrive and walk in the confidence that we are smack dab in the center of His plan.
Sometimes, though, despite all of His promptings and His dealings, we get off track. We lose our focus. And despite what our feelings may tell us, this never catches Him off guard. He is not disappointed in us. He knows our frame and realizes that we are dust. He gently reminds us what His plan is and like a shepherd, He guides us back onto the path of Life.
That is the beauty of repentance. All we have to do is acknowledge that we have “missed it,” or messed up royally, and then we get to turn around. It doesn’t have to be a long drawn out process. Our simple, “I am sorry,” coupled with the corresponding action of getting back on track thrills our Savior’s heart. He was wounded for our transgressions. He paid the ultimate price so that we can be in a right relationship with our Father.
So, when the enemy comes wagging his horrible lying tongue in your direction, simply refuse to believe his accusations. If you have repented and gotten back on the path of LIFE…you are made right by the shed blood of Jesus. You are justified by His sacrifice. That means it is JUST AS IF YOU NEVER SINNED. Wow, what a concept.
Today when you stop and sit in Jesus’ presence to BeLoved Completely if you have allowed yourself to become distracted, let Him show you the path of Life again. Listen to the gentle promptings of the Holy Spirit. If He brings up an area of sin, be quick to repent….just turn around….and when you do, you will find true righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost!
