44Then Jesus cried out, “When a man believes in me, he does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me. 45When he looks at me, he sees the one who sent me. 46I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness. 47”As for the person who hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge him. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save it. 48There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; that very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day. 49For I did not speak of my own accord, but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and how to say it. 50I know that his command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say.” John 12: 44 – 50
When I was reading the word yesterday, something jumped out at me that I hadn’t thought about in awhile. Jesus did not come into the world to judge us; He came to show us the way. He came to be our Way. He is our Way out of any circumstance in which we find our self. He is our Way into a loving relationship with our Heavenly Father. He is our Way out of the sin that so easily ensnares us. He is our Way into a life that is more abundant with blessings than we could ever have imagined.
Everything that the Holy Spirit ever speaks to us is straight from the Father’s heart. His desire is for us to prosper in our spirit, soul and body. He only has our very best in mind. If He speaks something to us, we can surely trust that it is for our good.
We read that, “Man shall not live on bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4) Food is not to be the only thing that fills and nourishes us. We should seek the words that God speaks to us. Please notice that the verb tense in that sentence is present tense. The words that God speaks to us are happening right now. He is always communicating with us. He is always leading and guiding us. We just have to take the time to be still so that we can hear what His Spirit is saying.
I believe when we stand before Him to give an account for our lives He will look at the words He has spoken over us and at the things He has asked us to do. We will not be judged by how often we went to church. We will not be judged by how often we looked like our sister or brother down the pew. He will NOT compare us to others that we hold in high esteem. He will look at the things He asked us to do and see if we followed through in obedience.
Obedience Brings Blessings
So, my prayer for us today is that we will sit in His presence and BeLoved Completely first. As we are receiving His love, let us examine our hearts and see if we are like the wise man who built his house on the rock. Were we hearers of the Word only or were we doers of the Word? (Matthew 7:24) If there is any part of your life that you have not obeyed the Word of the Lord, I urge you to turn around (repent) and walk in obedience. I promise it will bring God’s blessing in your life.
