Writing a blog has been on my heart ever since I saw “Julie and Julia” several years ago. The main character set off on a journey to chronicle her daily experiences as a chef cooking Julia Child’s recipes and this gave me an idea. Since I love to write, I knew that I wanted to write a blog for others to read about someone’s everyday experiences with Jesus. Having found much peace and comfort by sitting in His presence, I knew people would benefit from the lessons I have learned from my journey with Him.
I have been an elementary school teacher, administrator, curriculum coordinator and nanny over the last 26 years. (Wow!! I don’t ever think about how long it has really been until I sit down and count it all up.) I have been married to an amazing man for the last 7 years and we have two great Shih Tzus named Rascal and Bella. We are in the process of waiting on God to adopt a child. Throughout the course of each of these experiences, I have leaned on and relied heavily on my Heavenly Father. He has never let me down and this is the forum I have chosen to chronicle my journey into His never ending goodness.
A Little Bit More About How This All Began
On the morning I decided to start this blog, I kept thinking about the scripture, “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper and be in health just as your soul prospers” 3 John 1:2. It was literally like the word “beloved” was in flashing neon lights – except I read that one word as two little words… BE LOVED.
Everywhere I turned, God was speaking to me about taking the time to experience His love for us. As I contemplated the love God has for us, I realized that He loves every part of us. He loves our hearts, our minds, our wills, our emotions, our bodies, and our spirits. He loves us COMPLETELY.
As we have traveled on various paths we have picked up garbage along the way. This garbage may be a hurt or offense; it may be sicknesses or diseases. It may even be bad eating habits. Whatever it is, God wants us to be free from it, and the effects of it, so that we can experience a right relationship with Him.
The only way to get free from these things is by taking the time DAILY to sit in His presence. You don’t have to do anything. Just simply show up there and in your heart say, “I love You, God and I want to know You more. I want to know what you think about me and what You have for me.” Then, take the time to listen to His heart. He will show you things. You may want to take a journal with you so that you can record what He reveals. You may want to have some instrumental music or what I like to call soaking music playing in the background. You can even light a few candles. Use whatever you need to create an atmosphere of safety, warmth, and love.
Each day make it a priority to come into His presence and BeLoved Completely. Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you. Come just as you are, with no pretense of getting something from God; let Him love you. Come to be still and KNOW, from experience, that He is God!!
